Vocalist and songwriter, Jessie Lynn Ritter, grew up on the Mississippi River in Southeast Missouri. Getting picked up from school on horseback and fishing with her dad before homework began made for a storybook childhood. That childhood was enriched by the music of country radio which inspired Jessie to write her first songs before she reached junior high.
Jessie left her roots in Missouri at eighteen to pursue her education, and music, in Nashville, Tennessee. During her years in Music City she earned her degree from Belmont University and found her own voice in the vibrant songwriting community of Nashville. It was during these years that she wrote and recorded her first release. Stories Told blends traditional country, modern folk, and Jessie’s unique songwriting. Ranging from quirky love songs like "Talking in General" to dark roots revival tunes like "Gypsy River," this debut project showcases the depth of Jessie’s heart. A place which once you dive into, will leave you feeling inspired and accompanied on the long journey home. An early addiction to country radio will forever influence her original material, though her favorite music now includes the more alternative styles of Lori McKenna and similar songwriters on the fringe of country, folk, and americana.
Early in her performance career Jessie has already appeared live singing country, rock, soul, and pop classics in over three hundred shows. Traveling the world performing for American, Australian, Italian, French, British, and Spanish audiences, her vast song repertoire and her inviting presence keep people singing and dancing all night long.
Inspired by her world travels and the many people she has encountered along the journey, Jessie continues to write original music and tell stories that speak deeply of the human experience and finding a unique path in this beautiful world.
